Translation Guidelines — Egypt: Old Kingdom

General

  • Translate for meaning and tone, not word-by-word.
  • Keep brand and product names in English unless there is an official localized name.
  • Keep units and numbers as in the source unless your language has strong conventions.

Placeholders & Special Characters

  • Do not modify placeholders such as {0}, {1}, {name}, %s, %d.
  • Preserve the exact number of line breaks .

Style & Length

  • Avoid leading/trailing spaces.
  • Try not to exceed the source length for short UI strings.
  • Do not add a period/exclamation mark if the source has none, and do not remove it if the source has one.

Consistency

  • Use consistent terms for UI elements (buttons, menus).
  • If unsure, leave a Suggestion and add a comment for reviewers.

Workflow

Due to the diminished role of a royal necropolis and the spread of the cult of Osiris, burial next to king's pyramid was no longer necessary to achieve eternal life, with local necropolises coming into being. Although modest in appearance at first, they eventually rivaled the necropolises of the capital in opulence.

The first festivals that appeared were complex statewide rituals where people worshiped the gods by praising and re-enacting their deeds. Some of the most important were the new year (inundation and renewal), festival of Seker (worshiping the ancestors), and unification of the two lands (strengthening of royal power). These festivals cemented the authenticity and unity of Egyptian culture.
