Translation Guidelines — Egypt: Old Kingdom

General

  • Translate for meaning and tone, not word-by-word.
  • Keep brand and product names in English unless there is an official localized name.
  • Keep units and numbers as in the source unless your language has strong conventions.

Placeholders & Special Characters

  • Do not modify placeholders such as {0}, {1}, {name}, %s, %d.
  • Preserve the exact number of line breaks .

Style & Length

  • Avoid leading/trailing spaces.
  • Try not to exceed the source length for short UI strings.
  • Do not add a period/exclamation mark if the source has none, and do not remove it if the source has one.

Consistency

  • Use consistent terms for UI elements (buttons, menus).
  • If unsure, leave a Suggestion and add a comment for reviewers.

Workflow

The only completed pyramid – the pyramid of Ibi – seemed tiny next to the more grandiose pyramids of his predecessors, while its external casing was unrefined. There was no hint of the past majesty of kings.</color>

<color=cyan>Sneferu's second attempt was successful, and a first true pyramid with smooth walls appeared. Architect Nefermaat made layers of stone blocks horizontal, and because of that, the pyramid was stable and its inner chambers didn't suffer from extra pressure. Red granite lining gave the entire pyramid a pink color.</color>

However, due to huge mass and brittleness of the rock used, numerous cracks appeared on the pyramid, so the planned height had to be reduced. Thus, the shape of the pyramid became bent. Sneferu was displeased and ordered a construction of a new pyramid.</color>

Titanic efforts were required on the part of builders to cut a network of corridors and dozens of rooms from a solid rock, and to fill them with various riches so necessary for a king in the afterlife.</color>
