Instructions for translators

Translation Guidelines — Flint Age

General

  • Translate for meaning and tone, not word-by-word.
  • Keep brand and product names in English unless there is an official localized name.
  • Keep units and numbers as in the source unless your language has strong conventions.

Placeholders & Special Characters

  • Do not modify placeholders such as {0}, {1}, {name}, %s, %d.
  • Preserve the exact number of line breaks .

Style & Length

  • Avoid leading/trailing spaces.
  • Try not to exceed the source length for short UI strings.
  • Do not add a period/exclamation mark if the source has none, and do not remove it if the source has one.

Consistency

  • Use consistent terms for UI elements (buttons, menus).
  • If unsure, leave a Suggestion and add a comment for reviewers.

Workflow

  • Contributors: submit Suggestions.
  • Reviewers: approve/adjust suggestions.
  • You can request adding new languages if you plan to maintain them.

Do not translate (technical/service keys)

  • Keys matching: *.instance.selectText, *.internal.*
  • Purely technical strings without user-facing text.

Thank you for contributing! Significant reviewers will be credited in the game.

  • Any authenticated user can contribute.
  • The translation uses monolingual files.
  • The translation base language is editable.
